MESHING OPTIONS CHECK Control ON/OFF

This command is used to enable (or alternatively disable) a meshing pre-check facility.

Control Comments
GBODY [ON] Enable the general body pre-checking facility.
If the pre-check is switched on, then when a general body is created
(or alternatively when one of its defining sets is altered), the meshing
attributes (algorithm and element type) of each defining surface are
checked automatically. If, for a given surface, either attribute is not
compatible with the meshing algorithm associated with the general
body, then the relevant meshing attribute for that surface is changed
to an appropriate setting.
[OFF] Disable the general body pre-checking facility.
INTER-ELS [ON] Enable the interface element pre-checking facility.
When an attempt is made to mesh a body or a surface for which interface
elements have been specified, then the body or the surface is checked
automatically, and if necessary, redefined in order to align the direction
of any interface element that is to be generated with the divisions
specified for the body or the surface. All permutations of the body
definition or the surface definition are verified. See also Note 4 below.
[OFF] Disable the interface element pre-checking facility.

Notes:

1.
Default for general body pre-check
By default, the general body pre-check facility is switched on. This may be reversed by setting the resource variable, 'MESH.CHK_GBODY' to FALSE.
2.
Locked meshes
A pre-check will not redefine any aspect of an entity for which the mesh is locked.
3.
Default for interface element pre-check
By default, the interface element pre-check facility is switched off. This may be reversed by setting the resource variable, 'MESH.CHK_INTER-ELS' to TRUE, prior to running FEMGV.
4.
Divisions for interface element pre-check
If no permutation of the body or the surface is found for a particular set of division specifications, then the user is informed of this. If a body or a surface is changed in order to satisfy a set of division specifications, then the user is also informed.
5.
Number of possible permutations for interface element pre-check
The number of possible permutations for a body of 5 surfaces or a prism is 2, whilst the number of permutations for a body of 6 surfaces is 6. No other type of body is assessed or redefined by the interface element pre-check. The number of possible permutations for a 4-sided surface is 4. No other type of surface is assessed or redefined by the interface element pre-check.

Examples:

1.
MESHING OPTIONS CHECK GBODY OFF

Disable the general body pre-check facility.

2.
MESHING OPTIONS CHECK GBODY ON

Enable the general body pre-check facility. A general body that is created subsequent to this command, will have the definition of its underlying surfaces scrutinized and, if necessary, redefined such that the surfaces have meshing attributes consistent with the alogrithm attached to the general body.

3.
MESHING OPTIONS CHECK INTER-ELS OFF

Disable the interface element pre-check facility.
