Proven Improvements in Learning

Extensive studies and model schools have shown that educational technology enhances student learning in many cases. Some recent reports have indicated that students who have access to online materials perform better than those who do not.[1] The report "Effectiveness of Technology in Schools, 1990-1994," a comprehensive review of over 130 recent academic studies, found that technology can lead to improved performance most notably in math, science, social sciences and language arts.[2] This review also concluded that "recent research consistently demonstrates the value of technology in enhancing student achievement." While technology has led to improved performance for all kids, the success of underachieving students is most impressive. "At risk" students have demonstrated an improved attitude and confidence, and improved writing skills.[3] For information on success stories about technology in the classroom, please refer to the case study section.
