Graded readings compiled from Turkish middle and high school literature and social science books, and authentic current Turkish news media.
Various authentic Turkish audio and video materials.

Goals:

• Thorough familiarity with all grammatical aspects of Modern Turkish;
• Reading and understanding uncomplicated authentic texts;
• Communicative skills:
  • ability to satisfy routine social demands;
  • ability to write about very familiar subjects;
• Translation of brief Turkish newspaper articles and short stories of moderate complexity.

  Required Work:

• Mastery of weekly assignments, written and/or tape recorded by students; self-paced work on CALL materials.

  Assessment:

  • Achievement and proficiency tests, mid-term and final;
  • Personal Oral Interview.
