The Ring of Smith Alumnae was created in 1996 order to allow a way for Smith College Alumnae to find other Smith Alumnae on the Web. Any Smith Alumna who owns a personal webpage is welcome to join. Moreover, Smith alumnae classes, regional clubs, and affinity groups are also encouraged to join the ring with their homepages. I am hoping that this ring can serve as one more way for Smithies to find each other and keep in touch. Since the Alumnae Association does not keep a list of Smith Alumnae homepages, this is an alternative way of keeping track of the community on-line. Browse pages in the ring.

(Go to Geocities and sign up for a new account if you don't already have a Yahoo account. Follow their instructions.) Ready to join the Ring? Please follow these instructions carefully! I keep getting incorrect submissions. I am unable to write an individual message to everybody, so please read the following and make sure you incorporate the necessary changes in your pages. Thanks!! (Of course, if it's confusing, send me a note, but please read through this first.) 1. The first step in joining the ring is getting added to the queue. Please follow the instruction on the page you get to following this link: (Please note that this page will open in a new window. After registering, please come back to this page and follow the instructions below.) 2. You you will have to put a bit of code on your homepage (your ring page) in order to be added to the ring by the Ringmaster. You can get this bit of code on Yahoo's Webring page. In order to join the queue, you were asked to type in your Yahoo ID or create a new one and sign on to Yahoo that way. On Yahoo's Webring page, notice all sorts of menu options on the left side of the window. Under Member Tools, you can choose the option Navigation Bar. Click on that. This link will lead you to a page with some code that you have to put on your page. Important note: PLEASE make sure that you put this code on the page that you register as part of the ring. If you do not want to see this code on your general welcome page then I encourage you to set up a separate Smith page that you point to and that has this ring fragment. I cannot add pages to the ring unless the page that is registered as part of the ring has this bit of code on it. Be sure to download the ring image so you can put it on your page.
