The music of Descafenado unifies elements of bossa nova, samba, bolero, salsa and mambo with the essence of jazz. The focus is on the intimacy and openness of sound in the music which the band members execute via intuition and musical communication with each other. Indeed the band itself is an example of cross-cultural communication.

Founder and leader of the band, Ferenc Juhasz (tenor saxophone) was educated in classical music (clarinet) in his homeland of Hungary as well as jazz (saxophone) in Germany. He has performed a wide variety of musical styles including tours with the legendary Gunter Hampel in his band, Next Generation.

Guitarist Frank Kaiser, of Germany, also displays great variability in his musical performance as is evident in his performances of blues, soul, funk (Black Label, Kaiser-Sisters), and tango music (Tango Nuevo).

Romanian percussionist, Emanuel Cosma, joins Descafenado from the genre of funk and the drum'n bass scene (White Noise).

Descafenado focuses on the human elements of music: the contact, communication, and connection forming the base of their music as opposed to a stylistic credo or category. The result is a sensitive intermingling of the music from these different genres and cultures, moving gently amongst each other as if in a relaxed dance through the starry nighttime air.
