I am an Assistant Professor in the Program in Linguistics at Princeton University. My research interests fall into the following complementary areas: Phonetics and phonology Language description and documentation, in particular Laal and other languages of Southern Chad Typology, areal and historical linguistics, with a particular focus on African languages Khoisan linguistics, in particular the Ju languages (formerly known as Northern Khoisan)

My work depends largely on fieldwork and involves frequent field trips to Chad.
