Is it is possible to conceive of academic pursuits as a Christian vocation? Join members of the Fr Georges Florovsky Orthodox Christian Theological Society at Princeton University for a Saturday afternoon of reading and discussion. We will hear from Jeremy Wallace and Nicholas Marinides on the lives and views of St Maximus the Confessor and St Anastasius of Sinai, but we will spend most of our time reading and discussing relevant sections from the writings of these Church Fathers. Participants will examine how the wisdom contained within these texts might be applied to the modern lives of students and scholars. All are welcome. No cost to attend. Refreshments will be served.
We are hoping for a group of students, scholars, and interested Orthodox clergy and lay leaders from throughout the region. Please spread the word at your church or university.
Thinking about coming from a distance but not sure what else you'd do with your time in Princeton? Both Princeton Seminary's theological library and Princeton University's art museum are exceptional places to visit...and are free and open to the public.
Nicholas Marinides is a PhD candidate in history at Princeton University. He will be presenting on St Anastasius of Sinai.
Jeremy Wallace is a PhD candidate in historical theology at Princeton Seminary. He will be presenting on St Maximus the Confessor.
