The Interdepartmental Twentieth Century Forum is a graduate student organization comprised of students from all departments interested in any aspect of 20th century art, literature, philosophy, media or critical theory. Many of the major movements and intellectual debates in the 20th century crossed disciplinary borders, and we aim accordingly to foster inter-departmental dialogue and to provide a space where students can present their work to an interested and varied audience. The forum-members meet once each month during the academic year to discuss one or two pre-circulated dissertation chapters, dissertation prospectuses, or planned conference papers on a variety of topics. Each month the forum also invites faculty members to lead lunchtime discussions on a topic of their choosing. These invitations give faculty members the chance to discuss their own research interests with a wide range of students. In this way, faculty members get to know students outside their own departments and students learn about the research interests of professors with whom they may not have been able to take graduate seminars.

The forum operates an email listserv to update members of events and to circulate documents before scheduled meetings. To join the listserv or for any inquiries regarding the forum please contact Edward Muston or Dora Zhang.
