Charles Darwin

Darwin is one of the most influential scientists ever, certainly of the last two centuries. His ideas set forth in Origin of the Species affected almost every aspect of society. The acceptance of Darwin's theories undermined religious faith in much of the Western world, profoundly affecting literature, art, and society. Furthermore, his concept of slow-acting population dynamics, the most important part of his theory, has been applied by scientists such as Edelman and Burnet to other fields.

Darwin is important to the architectonic aside from the influence of his concepts. Darwin studied many different fields before finally writing Origin. The synthesis of these fields lead to the ideas he developed.
