Vortex Shedding from a D-shaped cylinder

Flow is from left to right. The Reynolds number based on the diameter of the cylinder is 250. The ratio of cylinder length to diameter is about 12. Note the alternate shedding from the top and bottom shoulders of the cylinder, as well as the highly three-dimensional nature of the vortices. This is from an early attemp at stereoscopic visualization, hence the detail and contrast are poor.
