HOUSE COMMITTEE
March 9, 1965

     The Committee met in the Master’s rooms at 5:45 p.m.
     Present:  The Master; Stratton, chairman; Brinkley, Kornfeuhrer, Morrison, Parsons, Treacey, Van Hecke.
     The minutes of the meeting of March 2 were read.  The minutes were approved as corrected.

     Forums.  On Wednesday, April 7, Francis Robinson, assistant general manager of the Metropolitan Opera, will give a forum.
     On Wednesday, April 14, Robert Buehler, director of public affairs of the National Association of Manufacturers, will give a forum.
     “Bird dog” question.  The Committee sat in special session to consider a charge levied under the “bird dog” rule.
     New “Bird dog” rule.  The Committee approved the following rule:
     "Any member of the House, who has not paid admission to a mixer, who entertains (in his rooms or elsewhere) any young lady who is the guest of the House at that mixer, shall be assessed five dollars ($5) for the expenses incurred by the Committee for her entertainment.”
     Organ Committee. The Dean has offered to give a report on the state of the proposals to repair the organ by May 14th..  The Committee directed the Chairman to respond to this offer by stating that the Committee thanks him for the reply, that the Committee has no power to vary the date requested by the House, and that the Committee request that that some report be given by April 8.
     Petitions for the House Committee.  Since few petitions for House Committee have been received, the Committee has extended the deadline for receiving them through Thursday evening, March 11.  Petitions should be given either to Mr. Lappan or to Craig Stratton.

     A petition for Henri Petard was disallowed, since he does not exist.
     Candy machines.  The lack of provisions in the pastry machines in both the old and new areas will be called to the attention of the vending machine company.

     The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.

EXECUTIVE MINUTES:
     Bill Waters appeared to protest the charge of $3.50 levied against him for “bird dogging.”  After hearing his case, the Committee lowered the charge to $1.75.

     The Committee will send a note to Mrs. Hamilton, thanking her for the party last Friday.
