Description

With the rise of a globalized industrial society, the ability of Earth's environment to sustain its broad array of life forms and functions is under accelerating attack, from the large scale and long term problems of global warming and biodiversity loss to the local, shorter term problems of air and water quality.

Despite its disproportionate contribution to many of these problems, the United States under the two major parties regularly drags its feet when it comes to enacting solutions. In keeping with the Green Party's commitment to solving these problems at the root, this working group will maintain pressure on the two major parties on issues of environmental protection at the local and national level.
We will provide current information and links addressing various environmental concerns, including global warming and the climate talks, genetically modified foods, biodiversity loss and the environmentally destructive use of public lands. Our efforts will address the important connections between many of these environmental problems and the other key issues in the Green Party platform (globalization, corporate power).

The work of this group and the structure of this website will provide an outlet for people to make their voices heard by offering opportunities for action on environmental concerns at the local and national levels.
