Message from the Chair, Leslie Medema · October 10,
2003
Dear Graduate Students,
I am Leslie Medema, a second year student and the current representative
to the GSG Assembly from the Woodrow Wilson School. I welcome the
opportunity to serve out the remainder of William Jordan's term as Chair
of the Graduate Student Government.
Since I joined the GSG last year, I have been impressed by the positive
working relationship that the organization has developed with
administrators at all levels of the University, right up to Dean Russel
and President Tilghman. As a result, the Graduate Student Government has
advocated for and successfully obtained many improvements on behalf of
graduate students. To name a few:
--extended health care benefits
--made reviewing and continuing to revise the post-enrollment status a top
priority for the Tilghman administration
--spurred the construction and future planning for more (and hopefully
more affordable) housing
--the shuttle!
--greater inclusion of grad students in campus committees
--installation of ethernet at Hibben, Magie, Lawrence, and Butler
--organized numerous social events and provided co-sponsorship to graduate
student groups
Within the GSG, numerous committees work on issues that have a substantial
impact on the quality of life for graduate students at Princeton by
working with administration and other people in the Princeton community.
Any member of the graduate student body is welcome to attend our meetings
or to join a committee. If you are interested in learning more or serving
on one of our committees, please visit the website at or email us at
gsg@princeton.edu. I welcome
your comments and suggestions on how the Graduate Student Government can
better serve you.
Thanks again, and I hope to see you at one of the monthly GSG meetings, at
one of our many social events, and/or at office hours sometime this
year.
Best,
Leslie Medema
Chair, Graduate Student Government
