Treasurer's Report for GSG Assembly Meeting: November 08, 2006

I. Co-sponsorship Summary
--------------------------
2006-2007 Co-sponsorship Budget: $14000.00

III. Special Funding Request:
--------------------------------------------------
The Events Board is in the process of taking over the funding requests
submitted to the GSG as discussed in the previous Assembly meeting.
Despite that, there is a request that needs to be decided before the
Events Board can meet and thus is included in this email.

Request:
--------
1_Organization_Name: (none)
2a_Contact_Person_Name: Kellam Conover
2b_Contact_Email: kconover@
3_Event_to_be_funded: Bus for graduate students to go to the
Princeton/Yale football game
4_Date_of_event: Saturday, November 11, 2006

5b_Expected_Total_Attendance: 215

9_Event_description: On Saturday, November 11th, the Princeton football
team will travel to New Haven, Connecticuit to play Yale for a share of
the lead in the Ivy League standings. A Princeton victory would mean a
rare double triumph over both Yale and Harvard in the same season, and
as a result there would be a huge bonfire on Cannon Green. The last
time this celebration occurred was 1995. The University is sending to
New Haven at least four coach buses of avid student fans. Given
sufficient funding, graduate students will be a part of this exciting
event. This opportunity will be advertised to graduate students through
a global email. The cost per seat on the bus is 20, and I am
hoping/expecting about 25 graduate students will be interested. Our
budget, therefore, is at least 500 (more if more graduate students
express interest). The Office of the Vice President of Campus Life has
promised 300. The Association of Princeton Graduate Alumni is a
prospective sponsor, but has not pledged a specific dollar amount at
this time. I am asking the GSG for 100 dollars to help cover the costs
of the expected 25 graduate students. Thank you for your consideration.

Recommendation: Approve for $100
---------------
The increased GSG budget of this year allows us to be generous. The
$14,000 of the Co-Sponshorship budget divided by 12 months allows us to
spend about $1166/month which is less than the submitted or anticipated
requests that both the Assembly and the Events Board are going to
consider.
