GSG Charity Furniture Drive·June 6-7, 2006

Purchase gently used furniture and other household items that have been donated by graduating students. Your GSG organizes this yearly event to provide affordable furniture to graduate students and to raise money for local charities (who receive all the profits of the drive) -- Home Front, Tender Hearts, Upper East Trenton Outreach, and Rescue Mission of Trenton.

This year's drive will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2pm - 7pm and Wednesday, June 6, 10am - 7pm. There will be two furniture drive sites: the tent at Spelman/Pyne and the tent at Dod/Brown. Click here for a map.

NOTE: While we welcome all donations, you are responsible for bringing items to the campus sites. Students are also responsible for transporting your purchased items from the drive to your home.

Sponsored by the Graduate Student Government and the Office of State and Community Affairs.

2006 Officer Elections & Referendum Results· Thursday March 09, 2006

The results of the officer elections and GSG fee referenda are available on the Election Commitee website and have been certified by the GSG Assembly.

Shin-yi Lin (MOL) has been approved as Chair and Alex Ntelekos (CEE) has been approved as Treasurer. Amendment #1 was approved, increasing the annual GSG fee from $5 to $10. Amendment #2 was not approved, so the fee will not increase annually.

The remaining Officer positions (Parliamentary Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Recording Secretary, Press Secretary, and Social Chair) will be filled with elections by the GSG Assembly at the April 12, 2006 meeting. Anyone may run by announcing their candidacy at the meeting, or you can e-mail a candidate statement in advance to gsg@princeton.edu.

Task force on DCE

At the January Assembly meeting, the Graduate Student Government Assembly decided to form a Task force on DCE. This task force is charged with investigating how DCE is positively and negatively affecting each department, gathering quantitative data about the extent of these effects, and reporting their progress regularly to the GSG Executive Committee and to the Assembly.

The task force will release three written reports from now until the end of next year, at the end of the first full year of DCE status. They will release two reports as part of 2006 and 2007's Graduate Student Life Initiative, which is the comprehensive report of graduate student issues released by the Executive Commitee. They will also release an interim report in October 2006.

The task force is composed of Lindy Baldwin (HOS), Steve Hassani (PHY), Kenneth Jamison (SOC), Dan Raburn (PPL), and Harvey Stark (REL). (We are currently still looking for a representative for the Engineering division.)

GSG Fee Referendum

The GSG Assembly has decided to hold a referendum on two proposed constitutional amendments that would increase the annual GSG Fee. It is important that all graduate students read about the amendments and the rationale and then vote. Voting on the referenda will be part of the annual officer elections. More details on the amendments and the referenda are available on the GSG Elections website.

Voting has begun! Please read about the amendments and cast your vote!
