The Judicial Proceedings of the Graduate Student Government are outlined
in the Constitution
(Article VIII) and By-Laws (Article
VI).
Judicial Opinions made under these proceedings are archived below for
public reference.
Judicial Opinion No. 1 -
Promulgated May 11, 2003, by the Executive Committee. Judicial Opinion
No. 1 consists of several responses to requests for formal interpretations
of the Constitution and By-Laws by an Assembly member, issued by the
Executive Committee under grant of Authority from Constitution Article
VIII, Paragraph 2, Clause B. On July 2, 2003, the Executive Committee
added a preamble to the opinion, by way of clarification. The
Parliamentary Secretary reported the action of the Executive Committee to
the Assembly, as required by Constitution VIII-3, at the Assembly's May 14
meeting. The Assembly was asked whether it wished to review the matter,
but no Assembly member made a motion to do so. Petitioner
appealed the decision of the Executive Committee to the Assembly on
September 10, 2003, as provided for in Constitution VIII-5. The Assembly
voted against reviewing the matter.
