Thank you for choosing to take part in our mentoring program! To help you get started, we have researched some training materials for you to get into the mentoring mindset. Through these resources, you will be able to understand what is mentoring and what can be done to establish a meaningful mentoring relationship. We strongly encourage you to review these materials in order to understand your unique role as a mentor/mentee. We hope that you will find your mentoring experience to be meaningful, and we value any feedback throughout your mentoring experience to help us improve our pilot program. We will also be sending periodic evaluations to assess the health of your mentoring relationship. If you encounter any problems/conflicts at any time or have any questions about the program, please feel free to contact us.
Thank you again for your participation in the program!

Below is a training program that we found to be particularly useful. This is a training program that discusses defines the roles of mentors and mentees, the different stages of a mentoring relationship, and the specific roles of mentors and mentees. The self-check section at the end is particularly useful. The program is targeted towards e-mentoring (mentoring via email), but the information is applicable to this mentoring program as well.

Signing up is free and the entire training takes roughly less than an hour. However, the entire training is targeted towards mentors of younger people, the oldest being high school kids. If you choose to go through this training, please keep in mind that the mentoring group will be comprised of more mature young adults and the issues will be mainly academic/career-driven.
