Directed by founder Alexander Lingas, Cappella Romana is a vocal chamber ensemble dedicated to combining passion with scholarship in its exploration of the musical traditions of the Christian East and West, with emphasis on early and contemporary music.

Dr. Alexander Lingas, who worked on deciphering the original manuscripts said: "this service is radically different... it represents a tradition of urban Christian worship that was celebrated in Byzantium for nearly a thousand years before it was lost. It has been wonderful to hear the music come to life again like this."
