History 211 - Announcements

Readings for Essay 6
Copies of the sources for Essay 6 have been placed on Reserve at Firestone. They should be available by late morning, Tuesday, January 5, although they may not show up right away in the electronic reserve catalog. Ask at the desk if you have trouble finding them. Note that you may find additional copies of the Hall and Kennedy books on the Open Reserve shelves in the Reserve Reading Room itself. Please, if you do borrow one of these additional copies, read it and return it as soon as you can, so that others also have a shot at it. Better still, consider making a xerox of the assigned chapter and returning the book itself.

Rosh Hashanah
If you are going to miss the first lecture on Monday, 21 September, it would help if we knew your preference for a precept time. Please send a note to Professor Mahoney with four ranked choices. You will find the currently available times here.

Precept assignments and first meetings
We will assign students to precepts following the first lecture on Monday, 21 September. Some first-year students may already have been assigned to precepts, but others have not, nor have any returning students. We will do our best to honor current assignments, so as to avoid juggling of schedules. Precepts will hold their first meetings later in the week, during the second scheduled meeting time. Precept lists will be posted here and outside the History Department Office at 129 Dickinson Hall. (Posted 9/17/98)

If you missed the first lecture,
