New Faculty
Joining the Program's regular staff will be Helen Tilley, currently
a Research Fellow at University of Oxford's Wellcome Unit for the History
of Medicine, will be joining the Department of History as assistant professor
in the fall of 2002. Her D. Phil., also from Oxford, examines British
colonial science and medicine in Africa during the first half of the twentieth
century.
Associated with the Program will be Benjamin A. Elman, a specialist
on the history of Chinese science, who will be coming from UCLA to join
the Departments of East Asian Studies and History, and Daniel E. Garber,
a historian of early modern philosophy and science, who will be moving
to the Department of Philosophy from the University of Chicago.
