Our work seeks to apply biochemical and biophysical methods, particularly X-ray crystallography, to problems in cell biology.  We are particularly interested in the protein complexes that allow intracellular transport vesicles to recognize and fuse with the proper target membranes.  We are also studying the generation and detection of the signal molecules that mediate bacterial quorum sensing.
