Mobile Power Plant

Ballard Power Systems of Vancouver,
Canada is developing Fuel Cell
systems for busses. The pictures
show their projections for the bus size and performance as a function of the year of manufacture.

These busses use hydrogen fuel, and a proton exchange membrane fuel cell to produce the electricity for
propulsion. The overall efficiency for
the 1994 bus is claimed to be 45% as
compared to a claim of 20% for a
Diesel powered bus of the same size.
