Mission Statement of Friends of Davis International
Center
The Friends of Davis International Center
of Princeton University (FDIC) is the volunteer wing of Davis
International Center and supports the International Center
in its efforts to enhance intercultural understanding. In addition,
FDIC volunteers offer the gift of friendship and language to international
students, visiting scholars, and their families by providing opportunities
to practice English conversation skills and to learn about American
culture in a warm and supportive atmosphere.
The
Friends Need Volunteers!
Friends
of Davis International Center is seeking new
volunteers to become tutors and hosts. Our volunteers
represent varying ages and backgrounds, but they all share the
same dedication—helping international graduate students,
visiting scholars and their families meet the daily challenges
of living and studying in a foreign country.
Since 1979, Friends volunteers have been:
- Inviting international graduate students and scholars,
along with their spouses and families, into our homes for
dinners and gatherings.
- Meeting on campus in small groups to practice
English conversation and socialize.
- Offering individual tutoring to international
graduate students and scholars who want to improve their English
skills.
- Creating intercultural understanding by
serving as the volunteer wing of Davis International
Center of Princeton University.
Above all, we offer the greatest gift
of all — friendship.
If sharing your knowledge, experience and friendship
with grateful members of the international community interests
you, then consider joining us in becoming a Friends volunteer.
