What does the program offer?
The Host Program offers an opportunity
for area residents to welcome international graduate students, visiting
scholars and their families into their homes for occasional dinners
and social gatherings.
By participating in the program, international guests learn about the customs and traditions of Americans, while hosts learn about world cultures and often share lifelong friendships with their guests.
How does the program work?
Periodically, students, scholars and their families are
invited to holiday gatherings and informal events, like potluck dinners
and picnics. Some hosts plan outings, such as visits to concerts,
museums or movies. Any opportunity to explore life in America is greatly
appreciated.
The Host Program continues throughout the year, and hosts and visitors
are encouraged to keep in touch at least monthly through e-mails or
phone calls.
The Host Program also sponsors several group gatherings
for the hosts and their guests, including luncheons and special holiday
parties.
International graduate students, visiting scholars and
their families can sign up at any point throughout the year to join
the host program by contacting Hanna
Hand.
