The world in which we live is very different from the world into which we were born. While watching exceptional economic growth and increased connectivity, we have also observed our planet become divided along ethnic, religious, cultural, and economic lines. While we have witnessed valiant efforts for stability and prosperity, we have also seen genocide unchecked, poverty neglected, injustice ignored. We must respond to the challenges of our time as a united world. In recognizing that global problems require global solutions, we find solace and responsibility in the knowledge that no problem of human destiny is beyond human beings.
The Internationalist is the first undergraduate-led international affairs publication geared toward a global audience, and we welcome submissions from University students of all levels around the world. It is our hope to increase awareness of international problems through informed discussion and analysis of these issues. If you have a strong view about an issue facing your country, region, or our common world, send it to us. The Internationalist stands as a forum for discussion and debate, without bias -- and we ask that our readers read with a critical but open mind. Our mission is, in short, to foster dialogues among students in universities across the globe about the critical challenges facing our world -- challenges we must rise to meet as our generation accedes to leadership in the coming years. Beyond dialogue, discussion, or debate, we aspire to something greater--mutual understanding and mutual respect.
