About ISAP

ISAP is short for International Students Association at Princeton. Everyone who has a permanent address outside the U.S. or is not a permanent resident in this country is automatically a member of ISAP, but anyone else interested can become one too. It is a forum for international students to meet each other, but also for other interested students to meet us. To become a member, you just need to ask to be put on the mailing list and you are officially a part of ISAP. You can ask any officer, or just email ISAP.

Regular ISAP events:
  • Cultural get-togethers: We hold cultural get-togethers a few times a semester, usually featuring food from some country and often focused around an ethnic festival or celebration. Past gatherings have included Chinese Lantern Festival, Mediterranean food and Mexican Revolution day study breaks. We have also held movie nights featuring foreign films.

  • Communiversity tables: Each year Communiversity brings the town and University together for a day of performances, food, games and more. For Communiversity 2007, ISAP reserved 3 tables for a “Global Village” to showcase cultures from many countries.

  • Break activities and dinners: ISAP organizes activities and a few meals for international students who stay on campus during breaks, as most dining halls are closed at this time. Recently, we have held a outdoor volleyball and BBQ lunch, sports afternoon in Dillon gym, and movie night.

  • International Pre-orientation: The energetic and enthusiastic ISAP volunteers serve as peer facilitators and provide a wonderful inside look at life at Princeton and their experiences. The ISAP volunteers also coordinate the social events that occur in the evening during pre-orientation and also the fun Scavenger Hunt across campus.

In addition, in 2007 we have initiated some exciting new events as part of the month long International Festival celebration!
  • ISAP Mini-World Cup: For all the internationals who miss football (the soccer kind not american of course!) and in the spirit of International festivities during the month long International festival, ISAP brought the world cup 3 years in advance. In this inaugural 7-A-Side ISAP Mini-World Cup football tournament, teams from all over the world competed for honor, glory and year-round bragging rights right here on Poe Field in Princeton! The winning team received a replica of the real world cup and free t-shirts for all participants. Team Europe are the current grand champions. We hope that the ISAP Mini-World Cup will become an anuual event.

  • Global Groove Night: In Spring 2007, ISAP organized Global Groove Night, an awesome international dance party held at Charter Club featuring DJ and international music, desserts from every continent, raffle draw for an electric scooter and free printed mugs. Global Groove Night was co-sponsored by ISAP, the Alcohol Initiative and the Davis International Center. We hope to hold a similar event in Fall 2007.

  • ISAP/IF Closing Ceremony banquet: A banquet with cuisines from all over the world to thank everyone involved with the International Festival.

If you have an idea for an ISAP event, please don’t hesitate to let us know! We value the opinions of our members and want your input! Feel free to contact any ISAP officer or email isap@princeton.edu at any time.
