Interactive Computer Graphics Laboratory (ICGL) or the Iris Workstations

Established in 1975, ICGL continues to provide near state-of-the-art computer graphics hardware and software for a broad spectrum of students, faculty members, and researchers. The ICGL maintains three facilities: two computer graphics classrooms of 20 and 18 networked Silicon Graphics Personal IRIS Workstations, and a graphics research laboratory that contains a wide variety of supporting devices, including frame grabbers, videotaping equipment, color scanners, and color printers. At ICGL, students have an opportunity to gain significant experience with state-of-the-art computer graphics equipment. The value placed on teaching in the ICGL facility is such that introductory computing and engineering courses are taught there every term.
