Well, it has been a while, hasn't it? The web page is roughly up to date, with further updates to appear as I have time. Suggestions? Comments? E-mail karate@princeton.edu.

The Karate Club's new webpage is ready to roll.  Please send any comments/complaints to evan@princeton.edu as well as any additional content, nifty link suggestions, or whatever.  Let's make the club's e-presence as spiffy as the club!

4/12/99

Hey everyone,

There's a bunch of stuff coming up for karate before the end of the semester, so this is kind of a long email, sorry about that. First off, it's time for another belt test. Our last week of official classes is the week of April 26 although we will still have informal practices all during reading period and finals to help bust some stress. So, that Tuesday, April 27th, we are going to have our belt ceremony and then go out to dinner afterwards with Master James and the instructors. But before we have the ceremony, we have to take the test of course. So the belt test is going to be Tuesday, April 20.
Starting tomorrow the officers and I will have blank test forms - everyone needs to pick one up and fill it out. You need to return that, with a check for $25 to Princeton Karate, to one of the officers by Sat. Current members need to attach their club card with that; new people, in order for us to make you a card, you need to give us a picture (Master James really doesn't like just having the facebook picture xeroxed, but if that's all you've got, it's better than nothing). Also, I'll have an evaluation form for people to turn in as well. Don't forget there are practices on Wed and Fri as well, so people might want to hit some extra workouts this week to polish up forms and boost their attendance record.
Tournament Stuff: It's coming up on the 24th. I've talked to some people informally about sparring, but if you want to participate and haven't told me, now's the time. I'd would encourage everyone to come since it's going to be here. Also, if you don't want to spar, everyone can do forms - I really encourage people to do that. It's good to do the forms in competition because it's a different atmosphere than what we usually have. People are watching and judging and you get a little nervous and mess up; but it's no big deal, and like everything in karate you overcome it by practice. Learning to be calm and focused in the tournament definitely carries over to the belt test when you have do the forms then. And it's a lot of fun. And you might get a really cool trophy (which gets the guys/girls when you're at the street).
Reunion Demo: Everyone is getting together on April 25th to go over what will be in the demo. Everyone whose going to be in the demo should be there: I'm sorry it's just after the tournament, but it should be short, and who knows, maybe some rich karate alumni will get nostalgic and want to give you a job or just a hunk of cash. More on this later. I know you are all busy, so good luck with the work.

Take care,

Dan
