Why should I join the Princeton University Karate Club?
What makes the Karate Club different? The Princeton University Karate Club has been around and kicking for well over twenty years! Our club has helped shape the minds and bodies of over 1,000 Princeton University students in that time. These days there are many martial arts available at Princeton. This is why we want you to know what sets us apart from the others. We fully appreciate (and often integrate) the different techniques each style has to offer you as a student of martial arts. You will find that our club offers an open-minded and practical approach to karate and self-defense, with opportunities to learn a wide variety of techniques.
The Princeton University Karate Club encourages men and women to develop not only martial skills and techniques, but also the "art" of Karate, the art of self-defense, and the true art of developing yourself. There is no fine print here; you come to class, we train hard and guide you while you teach yourself the techniques. It is simple enough, but chock full of challenges and rewards that will reach far beyond Dillon Gym. We encourage you to discover and challenge your potential through your karate training. You really can do this! How much experience/talent/athletic ability do I need?
What style of Karate does the Princeton Karate Club teach? We refine techniques in Tang Soo Do, already an eclectic Korean style of Korean Soo Bahk Do, Chinese Wushu, Okinawan and Japanese form, and add American Kickboxing, Hapkido, and grappling training. Additionally, our Karate Club offers a steady flow of highly effective Japanese and Brazilian Jujitsu techniques, along with Navy Seal combat concepts. After learning how to use the weapons you carry with you now, upper belts will also master Japanese and Okinawan weapons training techniques. Tell me more about the Karate Club...
