![]() Kruller was launched by 10 Princeton undergrads in March 1997. The consensus among the founders was that too many vastly talented writers were expressing little or no interest in presenting their work to their peers through Princeton’s well-established literary venues. It was our feeling that writers were shying away from the polarized images associated with those publications, and that we could publish a superior magazine worthy of the talent Princeton harbors. This original mission still guides us today. By working with our writers on a more individual basis and de-emphasizing 'image' as much as possible, we feel that we provide a simple yet rigorously polished forum for Princeton's best writing. But still, why KRULLER? Doughnuts are good. But we are not empty like a doughnut, with a gaping hole where substance should be. And we did not want to be another avant-garde forum with a pretentious German name like Zeitgeist... So twists and turns of thought led to Kruller, a doughnut that was far from holey and Germanic enough to mock the Zeitgeists of the world. Also, krullers never have the same shape twice, and so we have tried to bring a unique slant to every issue. And in the end, doughnuts are just good. Bon appetit. Return to main page |
