Location
Lawrence Apartments are located just off Alexander Road.
To get to Princeton University get onto US Route 1. Get off Route 1 at Alexander Road (west). West is left at the light if you are driving north on Route 1, or the first exit for Alexander Road if you are coming south on Route 1.
You are now going towards Princeton (not Princeton Junction). Alexander road becomes narrow very quickly and somewhat winding. After two bends in the road, you will go over two small bridges traversing the canals. The second bridge is red and brown, and somewhat larger than the first (white) one.
There are two entrances to the apartments: West Drive, and Lawrence Drive. West Drive is on the left immediate after the second bridge... it is a very small road and can be easily missed. Once on West Drive, the apartments are on the right-hand side of the road. This you will see easily, as the 12-floor high-rise is the only tall building around.
Lawrence Drive is the left turn at the first traffic light after the bridges. There is a turning lane here, and it is much easier then West Drive when the traffic is heavy.
For directions within Princeton University, visit the official Princeton campus map website. The Lawrence Apartment Complex lies at the lower left of that map. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to campus.

Bike maps
Even though Lawrence Apartments may seem to be far from campus, many interesting places are accessible by bike (or on foot). Below, we collected routes from residents. Please note that these routes are provided "as-is", and you use them at your own risk. In particular, make sure that you are comfortable riding in traffic, your bike is properly lit at night (front- and taillights, also, you need strong lights to ride on the canal path after dusk), and you might want to wear a helmet to make your ride safer.
Contributions are welcome. Please use Gmaps Pedometer to record your route, then click on "save route" and send us the link.
- route to Wegmans, Target, etc This route goes on the canal path, but involves a bit of a biking in traffic. You might just want to pick up your bike and use the sidewalks before turning to Nassau Park Blvd.
- shortcut to the GC
- You can also bike to: Whole Foods, Staples, Marshalls & more starting off on the tow-path, crossing the bridge at the golf course and biking a block on back streets.
- The forest surrounding the Institute of Advanced Studies is great for hiking or biking, and it is very close.
- Biking to the Princeton Shopping Center from campus (one of the various routes).
