Research interests:

I got my Ph.D. in 2006 from the Department of Ecology at the University of Barcelona (Spain). Then I was awarded a Fulbright fellowship for postdoctoral research in Lars Hedin's lab. Broadly, I'm interested in forest biogeochemistry and catchment hydrology, and in the effects of global change on such biogeochemical and hydrological processes. My initial research was focused on the nitrogen cycle in mediterranean riparian forests, and in the hydrological and biological interactions between streams and riparian zones. Moreover, I investigated which climatic and hydrologic factors control the export of nitrogen during storms in mediterranean catchments. Currently, I'm seeking to understand which are the main external (i.e., global change, perturbations) and/or internal (i.e., ecosystem succession, hydrology) drivers explaining long-term changes of nitrogen export from temperate forests. Further, I hope to investigate by which specific biological mechanisms those changes in nitrogen export occur.
