Working with Dr. Troy Baisden of Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research New Zealand we are looking to examine nutrient losses and the ratio of organic to inorganic C, N and P in streams across a large variety of important ecosystem characteristics such as parent material, soil type and development, rainfall and temperature, and elevation. This work complements earlier work done in Chile and Argentina describing N cycling in undisturbed temperate watersheds and continues our focus on fundamental controls on nutrient cycles especially losses.
