Daniel Nikbakht
Special Assistant to the Director
Daniel Nikbakht received his A.B. from Princeton University, concentrating in international relations and foreign policy in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. During his time at Princeton, he travelled and worked in multiple countries in the Middle East, and speaks Farsi fluently. In 2009, he worked with Iraqi refugees in Amman, Jordan with the International Rescue Committee. In 2008, he travelled to Egypt to conduct field research on social entrepreneurial programs that empower urban impoverished youth.
Nikbakht graduated Princeton after completing his thesis, “Iran’s Green Movement: What It Is and What It Isn’t,” in which he conducted original interviews with participants and grass-roots leaders of the reform movement in Iran. His inquiry into the capacity of the Green Movement to initiate the democratization process resulted in a comparative analysis with other social movements, and a commentary on the influence of 21st century technology on democracy in Iran. As a student associate at LISD and PORDIR student fellow, he helped organize international private colloquiums in Vienna, Bonn, and Brussels. While a student, Nikbakht also founded the "Princeton Development Group," a team of students who engage in research and dialogue on development issues.
Previously, he served as a research assistant on East Asian affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School, and worked in television news in New York. He attended meetings at the International Relations Council, and was a former Assistant Director of Special Programs at Princeton Model Congress.
