Ambassador Albert Rohan
Deputy Special Envoy of the Secretary General
For the Future Status Process for Kosovo
Ambassador Albert Rohan was appointed in November 2005 as Deputy
Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for the Future Status Process
for Kosovo. From 1996-2001, he served as Secretary General
for the Austrian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and prior to that
Deputy Director-General for Political Affairs, Director of the
Department for Central, East, and South-East Europe, as well as
Ambassador to Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.
Before assuming his current position in 2005, Ambassador Rohan worked
as lecturer, political commentator for radio, television and print
media. Ambassador Rohan has lectured on Developments in the Balkans,
the Situation in the Middle East, Russia, and the Transatlantic Relations
and European Affairs around the world, including at Princeton, the
universities of Toronto, Ottawa, Budapest, Cracow and Vienna, and
Council for Foreign Relations, New York, Woodrow Wilson Centre, Washington,
The Royal Institute of International Affairs, and Chatham House,
London. He is author of the book Diplomat on the Fringes
of World Politics.
