| People Maurizio Viroli Professor Department of Politics Princeton University Maurizio Viroli’s research interests concern the Republican tradition. He is the author of L'Etica Laica di Erminio Juvalta, Jean Jacques Rousseau and the Well-Ordered Society, From Politics to Reason of State: The Acquisition and Transformation of the Language of Politics (1250-1600), For Love of Country, Nicolo's Smile: The Story of Machiavelli; and Republicanism. He is the co-editor of Machiavelli and Republicanism. He has been a research fellow at Clare Hall at Cambridge University, a Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute, and a visiting member at the Institute for Advanced Study. He received his Ph.D. from European University Institute.
