Maurizio Viroli

Maurizio Viroli’s research interests concern the Republican
tradition. He is the author of L'Etica Laica di Erminio
Juvalta, Jean Jacques Rousseau and the Well-Ordered Society, From
Politics to Reason of State: The Acquisition and Transformation
of the Language of Politics (1250-1600), For Love of Country, Nicolo's
Smile: The Story of Machiavelli; and Republicanism.
He is the co-editor of Machiavelli and Republicanism.
He has been a research fellow at Clare Hall at Cambridge University,
a Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute, and
a visiting member at the Institute for Advanced Study. He
received his Ph.D. from European University Institute.
