22-24 February 2002
Princeton, New Jersey

LISD convened a second workshop on Afghanistan, “Afghanistan’s Future: Self-Governance, Security, Viability,” on February 22-24, 2002 at Princeton University. This conference was a follow-up to the November 2001 workshop with Afghan leaders on the future of their country. The meeting focused on the central issue of the future political structure of Afghanistan, especially those aspects relating to the central political structure and the political structure of the states.  The private conference kicked-off with a public lecture by Paul Bucherer, Director of the Afghanistan Institute and Museum in Switzerland, “Afghanistan’s Cultural Heritage: The Reconstruction of the Buddhas of Bamiyan.”
