Private
Workshop on Afghanistan (Off-the-Record Discussion)
19 November 2001
Princeton, New Jersey
Six weeks after 9/11, LISD hosted at Princeton
a special private meeting with Afghan leaders on the future of their
country. At
this meeting participants agreed that the most pressing need for
future stability and viability in Afghanistan was the creation of
enduring state structures which would be accepted by the people,
and that stability and security within Afghanistan and among its
neighbors was the prerequisite for the state’s viability.
