European
Union
LISD began its work on and with the European Union
in 1998. The
project is concerned with the role, status, and influence of the
European Union (EU) in the emerging international system, especially
the EU’s institution building, enlargement, and capacity
to deal with foreign, defense and security dimensions, and international
crises. Broadly speaking, the project evaluates the effects
of the crises on the EU’s standing, role and power in the
emerging international system. In 2006, Wolfgang Danspeckgruber,
Director of LISD, was an academic advisor for the Austrian Presidency
of the EU.
