Third Intersessional Meeting of the Special Working Group on the Crime of Aggression
8-11 June 2006
Princeton, New Jersey

On June 8-11, 2006, LISD hosted an Intersessional Meeting of the Special Working Group on the Crime of Aggression. This is the third time that LISD has hosted this working group. Over 120 delegates from ICC States Parties, other States, and NGOs continued deliberations relating to defining the crime of aggression under the ICC Statute. The meeting was chaired by Ambassador Christian Wenaweser, Permanent Representative of the Principality of Liechtenstein to the United Nations.

The Assembly of ICC States Parties in November-December 2005 acknowledged the progress made in previous intersessional meetings and decided to give more meeting time to the Special Working Group in formal meetings and to continue the practice of intersessional meetings. It was also determined that the work of the Special Working Group should be concluded by 2008, so that the ICC Review Conference can take up its proposals in 2009.
