Current Perspectives on Central Asia

The purpose of this course is to examine the countries of Central Asia in their contemporary context. Each seminar will examine a separate country or resource from historical, political and quotidian points of view, placing it in a geopolitical context. Extensive reference will be made to post-Soviet politics and the question of Islamic fundamentalism.
