Experience
Four years of industrial experience in research and development; thirty years of 
teaching and research at Princeton University; he is currently teaching 
Introduction to Signals and Systems and a graduate course on signal processing 
and image processing; he has authored some two hundered technical papers, and 
supervised forty-seven Ph.D. dissertations. 



Biography
Bede Liu received the B.S. degree in E.E. from National Taiwan University and 
the M.E.E. and D.E.E. degrees from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. Prior 
to joining the Princeton Faculty in 1962, his industrial associations included 
Bell Laboratories, Allen B. DuMont Laboratory, and Western Electric Company. He 
has been a Visiting Professor at the National Taiwan University (Taipei),
Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai) and Academia Sinica (Beijing). 
He was the IEEE President of the Circuits and Systems 
Society for 1982 and a member of the IEEE Board of Directors (1984, 1985). He 
received the IEEE Centennial Medal (1984), the ASSP Society Technical 
Achievement Award (1985) and Society Award (2000), the CAS Society Education 
Award (1988), the Video Technology Best Paper Awards (1994, 1996, and 2003) 
and the MacVan Valkenburg Award (1997).
