Albatross (not), Cape May, 24 May 2000

Date: Wed, 24 May 2000
From: Shawneen Finnegan/Paul Lehman
Subject: NO albatross today

The Yellow-nosed Albatross was NOT seen at all today (Weds) along the bayshore in Cape May County despite lots of effort. There was one possible sighting of an albatross in poor light off the Concrete Ship at Cape May Point in the afternoon, but, again, no definite sightings. If the bird is seen again we will certainly post the news immediately. If you come look for the bird and see it, please let everyone know absolutely A.S.A.P.

Searchers did turn up single immature Glaucous and Iceland Gulls, a brief Red-necked Phalarope, and an up-bay Parasitic Jaeger.
