White Ibis, Beach Haven, 12 June, 2000

Date: Fri, 16 Jun 2000

Subject: White Ibis and S-t Kite

NJBirds People:

First the good news, then the bad news.

The good news:

Late on Monday, June 12, Dick Burke reported a fly-by adult White Ibis, in with a group of Glossy Ibis, flying from Beach Haven, Long Beach Island, west toward the mainland.

In the afternoon of Thursday, June 15, Jerry Ligouri reported a Swallow-tailed Kite flying south at Tuckahoe, northern Cape May County.

The bad news:

Neither bird has been reported again, at least not yet, and there is limitless habitat in which to search. But who knows. The ibis could well hang out in that "general area" with Glossies for a while....

A Mississippi Kite was seen over the Villas, Cape May County, also on June 15.
