From Scott Barnes:
Hi Laurie,
Yesterday (8/16) I saw a winter-plumaged Sandwich Tern on the mudflats at South Amboy (Morgan) with about 350 Common Terns at about 1 o'clock. This is the second time I've seen one there in about eight years. Although I know it occurs annually in Cape May County, I know they're pretty unusual further north.
To reach the mudflats turn off of Rt. 35 just after you cross the morgan bridge on to Morgan Ave. [northbound] Follow Morgan around a right-hand turn to the cul-de-sac. Carefully cross the railroad tracks and walk left along the bay shore to view the mudflats.

In other news, the Mississippi Kites are still present at Tabernacle Rd. and a good flight of passerine migrants was at Cape May this morning on the weather change.
