Subject: More sod farm reports
Two additional reports of sod-farm birds today; no further reports yet of the Brigantine Jaeger. Note that Brigantine (Forsythe) NWR will be closed on Thursdays in Sept./Oct. for "goose management."
Great Meadows (west of Hackettstown, Warren Co.), from Joe Burgiel:
This morning (8/29), Tom Halliwell and I visited the Liberty Sod Farm in Great Meadows. We had 6 Upland Sandpipers, 3 Golden Plovers, and 4 Buff-breasted Sandpipers (along with about 200 Kildeer and 1 Common Snipe).
Johnson Sod Farm (south of Pole Tavern, Cumberland/Salem Co), from John Scavetto:
Just returned from the Johnson Sod Farm. Had two Upland Sandpipers on the corner of 77 and Griers Lane. The Golden Plover were in a field off Olivett and Burlington. The Cranes where also present on Friesburg Rd in a field just past the welcome to Salem County sign. What a great morning. There is also one less Brown-Headed Cowbird in this world due to a very hungry Male Kestrel.
