Here is the list from the trip from Brielle, NJ on 2 Sept. 2000 on the "Atlantis" 5 am - 9 pm. Paul Guris is on another trip off Cape May today and I offered to post the list for him. The trip was organized by FONT and led by Paul Guris and others. Weather was cloudy and calm, waves 2-3', water temperature quite warm (in the 70s) for NJ. Farthest distance offshore was about 90 miles, at Hudson Canyon.
Other birds: Whimbrel, Brown-headed Cowbird (hitched a ride back to shore), Ruddy Turnstone, Chimney Swift, Yellowthroat, Am. Redstart, warbler sp., and peep sp. Other critters: 7 Fin Whales, a few distant dolphins, several sea turtles and Mola-mola, and a Green Darner dragonfly 70+ miles offshore.
* these numbers are excellent; I believe 5 Bridled Terns is an unprecedented count for a non-hurricane situation off NJ. Two were about 60 miles and the other 3 were at the Canyon. The jaegers were at approx. 25 miles, 60 miles and 90 miles in loose groups.
