Today (09-22-2000) I saw the Common Crane and four Sandhill Cranes. Here are the specifics:
At approximately 9:30 I found the Common Crane with two Sandhill Cranes feeding in a wooded area adjacent to a horse farm on Walters Road which is off of Seeley Cohansey Road. The nearest land mark was a mail box for 181 Walters Road. While observing these three cranes I noted two additional Sandhill Cranes feeding on the horse farm property. Within a couple of minutes of sighting the Common Crane and its two companions all three flew up and landed on the horse farm property - even further back than the other two cranes. As they fed they moved out of sight. At this time I left and drove the roads which surround this property. I got back to Walters Road about 9:40 and found all five cranes feeding in a corn stubble field on Walters Road near the intersection of Seeley Cohansey Road. Around 9:45 two of the cranes flew off to the north. Around 9:50 the Common Crane and the two remaining Sandhill Cranes flew off to the southeast. I drove around the area for about two hours but could not relocate any of the birds. I did find three flocks of Turkeys - each about ten birds.
Hope this helps!
