Please forgive a one-time announcement, not about a rarity but about a service that I hope will interest you.
If you have wished for a discussion list where you could ask and answer NJ birding questions, here is a new opportunity. I'm pleased to learn that Tyler Bell is willing to do the hard work of administering a list, NJ-Bird-Chat, that will offer general posting access and a wider interchange of information. Unlike NJBIRDS, Tyler's list has the support of good LISTSERV (tm) software with complete archiving and indexing services, administrative tools, and web access. I hope that, if you have wished for such a statewide discussion list, you will support this one and consider subscribing to it as well as to NJBIRDS. I know there is strong support (434 subscribers today) for NJBIRDS itself, and I will continue NJBIRDS for immediate rarity alerts. I trust that the two lists will provide useful and complementary services.
Please see the document below for full information about the NJ-Bird-Chat mailing list. Contact Tyler if you have questions at the address < NJ-Bird-Chat-Request@LIST.AUDUBON.ORG >
