From Pete Bacinski:
The Western Tanager was seen today (about 9:00 a.m.) from the observation tower at the north end and from the trail from the parking lot in the trees and scrubs between the tower and the Coast Guard houses. This area is called Battery Peck. The bird was eventually viewed at about 15 feet.
Other bird of note include: several White-crowned and Lincoln's sparrows, Palm Warbler, and Swainson's Thrush.
We could not locate the Leconte's Sparrow behind the marine lab near the weather station, but did have a Vesper Sparrow in that field.
Thanks also to Don and Scott for their notes.
